Research Emphasis: My research is focused on gene therapy for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) using Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) vectors to deliver the gene of interest into the CNS of SMA mouse models. We have recently applied the similar strategy for Spinal Muscular Atrophy with Respiratory Distress type 1 (SMARD1) disease.
